Kalaburagi: An undertrial died after jumping off a building at the Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), where he had been taken for a medical examination on the night of Friday August 26.
The deceased has been identified as Sheikh Javen alias Munna, who had been arrested in connection with a theft case.
According to sources, he was arrested based on an arrest warrant issued due to Munna’s non-appearance at a court proceeding.
Munna was examined by a doctor before being brought for a Covid test. He suddenly started to run and jumped from the building to escape from getting arrested. He sustained serious injuries due to the fall.
Munna was given emergency care, but could not be saved.
A case has been registered at the Brahmapura Police Station.
