Kalaburagi: Member of Parliament Dr. Umesh Jadhav said, “Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has given his in-principle approval, for the request to extend the Vande Bharat Express train running between Mumbai and Solapur to Kalaburagi,” he said.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Diesel Electric Multiple Units (DEMU) train between Kalaburagi and Bidar on Monday March 6. “The Chennai – Ahmedabad Ekta Nagar Express train, which was a long-standing demand, will stop at Kalaburagi Station. The Duronto Express train from Lokmanya Tilak Station in Mumbai to Secunderabad will stop at Wadi. The Mumbai-Thiruvananthapuram Express train will stop at Shahabad. The Mumbai CSMT – Nagercoil Express will stop at Shahabad. The Chennai – Ahmedabad Express will stop at Kalaburagi and the Mumbai – Hyderabad Express will stop at Sedam and also at Nalavara Station.

Speaking on the occasion he said, “Kalaburagi Railway Station will be modernised in the coming days. Thousands of people travel to Kalaburagi and Bidar on a daily basis. Also, people in many villages can use this train facility at a very low cost. So we requested the Railway Minister to start another Diesel Electric Multiple Units (DEMU) train. In response to that, the DEMU train has now started,” he said.

Kalyana Karnataka Area Development Board Chairman Dattatreya Patil Revoora said that a new express train should be started between Bidar and Bengaluru. This will facilitate the movement of people in the region. Also, if the train is stopped at Taj Sultanpur, it will help the people of that area to go to the same station,” he said requesting Solapur Divisional Railway Manager Neeraj Kumar Dohare.

The Kalaburagi – Bidar DEMU train was flagged off by Union Minister Bhagwant Khuba at Bidar on Saturday March 4. This is the second time that the same train has been flagged off.
