Kalaburagi: At least 40 passengers were seriously injured when a bus belonging to Chittapura Taluk transport unit of Kalyana Karnataka Transport Corporation (KSRTC) fell into The Shahabad Kagina river on Thursday afternoon of November 3.
The bus, which was on its way to Chittapura Town from Jewargi via Shahabad, skidded off the narrow Kagina Bridge and fell down. If it had fallen from the middle of the bridge, there would have been a possibility of huge loss of life. However, the bus fell into the right-hand field while climbing the bridge.
The passengers inside the bus broke the window panes and came out. The public of various vehicles present at the spot came to the aid of the passengers. It is learnt that both The Shahabad-based bus Driver Shankar and Conductor Srinivas were seriously injured.
Shahabad CP Raghavendra S, PSI Ashok Patil and staff visited the spot and admitted the injured to Kalaburagi District Hospital. The exact cause of the overturning of bus is yet to be ascertained.
