Koppal: On the day of Ellu Amavasya, farmers from all over the Uttara Karnataka offered pooja to fields and enjoyed food in the fields along with their families.
On the day of Ellu Amavasya, the farmers along with their families, take to their fields a variety of food items, including various kinds of sesame bread, bajra roti, peanut holige, jowar roti, etc. They offer food to the field and spread that food all over field.
As a result of globalisation, the number of bullock carts in the villages has come down and the farmers go to the fields on tractors and other vehicles. While the Governments’ promise to double the income of farmers remains a mirage, the farmers have not yet given up the sacred occupation of feeding the world.
