Koppal: Fed up of debt, journalist attempt to suicide

Koppal: Fed up with the constant harassment of debtors, a journalist attempted to suicide by jumping into the Tungabhadra Canal near Dasanala in Gangavathi Taluk of the District on Saturday December 24.

Banderao Muktedar, who works with a local newspaper, had taken loans from many due to financial difficulties and could not repay the loan on time due to the Corona crisis. However, it is said that he was paying interest on time.

It is learnt that he was threatened that he should pay a total of Rs. 25 Lakh as principal amount, otherwise, they would break his limbs and kill him in front of his family.

He sent a suicide note to his journalist friends via WhatsApp and jumped into the Dasanala Canal and attempted suicide. Immediately, the journalists called 112 and informed about the incident. A police force rescued him.
