Koppal: Man dies after hit by lorry

Koppal: In a tragic incident, another truck driver was killed when he tried to stop a moving lorry at Vanageri toll plaza on the National Highway here.

The deceased has been identified as Kamaraj G. (32), a native of Salem in Tamil Nadu. The truck driver, Murugan Kandan, had stopped the lorry at neutral to have tea at Vanageri toll plaza on the four-lane national highway in the wee hours of Wednesday December 7. At the same time, another driver Kamaraju had alighted to urinate. The lorry, which was in neutral without a driver, started moving forward.

Kamaraju saw the lorry moving and rushed to stop it. Meanwhile a truck from Haryana collided with a lorry when the driver suddenly taking a right turn killing Kamaraju. However, Murugan climbed on to the lorry that was moving ahead and applied brakes and stopped the lorry.

Ajmal Jan Mohammed, the lorry driver from Haryana, has been taken into custody by the Kushtagi Police. A case has been registered at the Kushtagi Police Station.
