Koppal: In 1971, the Government had allotted around 39.27 acres of land to 20 beneficiaries belonging to SC, ST Backward and Minorities at Arhal village in the Taluk.
The land sanctioned by the Government for the last 52 years has not been PODI-free due to negligence on the part of some officials of the Revenue Department in providing PODI and maps in the name of the beneficiaries.
As many as 20 beneficiary farmers, who have been allotted land for the last 52 years, have appealed to the Revenue Department but to no avail.
The 20 families in Rahal Village have decided to boycott the upcoming general Assembly elections if they are not given a PODI-free map immediately. The registered farmers protested near their allotted land in Arhal and made demands.
Speaking on the occasion, Rudresh, Tarasaleppa, Shivappa Bhovi and Hirekhanasabha said that despite wandering to the Tahasildar’s office for the last 52 years, the Revenue Department surveyed the 39.27 acres of land allotted by the Government and took possession of the land of the respective farmers.
