Koppal: In a shocking incident, a woman allegedly grabbed a bottle of poison and created a high drama at Kanakadasa Circle in the Town.

In view of the installation of the proposed statue of Kanakadasa at Kanakadasa Circle on Kushtagi-Gajendragad road here, a push cart and a stall have been removed. Angered by the eviction of Laxmibai Takkalaki’s stall, the woman protested by holding a bottle of poison near the shifted stall.

Despite the police’s attempts to convince her, the woman continued her protest with a bottle of poison. She alleged that the land belongs to Pancham and someone has applied for eviction. It should be known who has applied. She continued to insist that she would not move from the place till the Municipal Chief arrived.

Municipal Corporation President Gangadharaswamy Hiremath said that the land belongs to the Durgadevi Trust and the record is in her name. He clarified that the samaj had decided to install Kanakadasa status within a few days and since the land belong to them, they had the authority to do so.
