Koppal: Former Member of the Legislative Council and President of the State Weavers’ Community Federation Laxminarayan said that the life of the weavers is in bad shape. Thus all of us should aim to give our children a good education and occupy high positions. Only then the society can prosper.
He was speaking after releasing the Silver Jubilee logo of Devanga Maharshi at a function organised jointly by Devanga Sangha, Dayanandapuri Sports, Cultural Folk Arts Association and Gayathri Mahila Sangha Dotihal at Devanga Maharshi Samskruthika Bhavana here on Saturday November 5.
Inaugurating the programme, Ravindra Kalaburagi, President, State Devanga Sangha said, “In our society, irrespective of caste, their contribution to the society is immense. Higher education has been a mirage for our weaver’s children who have been growing up holding looms, and lathis since time immemorial. At present, the condition of the weavers is critical. Now we have only one option, to give higher education to our children. For this, some schemes like providing free training to the children of the society for higher education have been put in place, he said.
