Koppal: A video of a class 8 student lashing out at seers for their opposition to eggs being given in school’s midday meals has gone viral.

Anjali, a student at MNM Higher Primary School for Girls, Gangavati, while participating in a protest here on Saturday December 11 against seers who have opposed the government’s move to give eggs in schools in the backward districts of Kalyana Karnataka and Vijayapura District has said that children in the State are malnourished.

“It’s a matter of our survival. Good things are imparted to us by our parents and instructors. We will rush to the mutts and eat eggs there if seers oppose this scheme. Mutts are being run by donations offered by devotees. We donate to mutts even though we are poor. We should be allowed to eat eggs. Children, you say, are Gods. So, fulfil the wish of the Gods,” she said.

It is learnt that she later apologised for her derogatory statement against seers.

If the government refuses to reverse its decision on eggs in midday meals, seers from various mutts have threatened to launch a protest on December 20.
