Vijayanagara: Justice will be done for SC/ST communities by launching more welfare schemes, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
Addressing Jan Sankalp Yatra’ at Dr Puneet Rajkumar District Stadium here on Wednesday October 12, he said that the children of farmers need not worry about education since the government has given ‘Vidyanidhi’ scheme for them as well as to the kids of agricultural labourers, weavers, fishermen, taxi and autorickshaw drivers. A loan cum subsidy scheme up to Rs. 50,000 is being given to several artisans. Besides, self-employment to 100 youth under Babu Jagjivan Ram scheme, Rs. 5 lakh loan to streeshaki groups, and streesamarthya scheme marketing facilities for their produce are made available, he noted.
Bommmi said, “The Congress Party did not hike reservation when it was in power, and they are questioning us. We also know law. We will not rest till the SC/ST community is provided justice. The Congress leaders say dalits and oppressed classes are living in fear in the BJP regime but when they were in power efforts were made to break Lingayat-Veerashaiva community. Now the BJP Government has made lingayats-veerashaivas to come together. The people were scared then due to murders and nothing of that kind is happening under the BJP Government, he observed.
Bommai said Prime Narendra Modi has said ‘Ek Bharath, Shrestha Bharath’, and the people want Modi to lead the nation. “We will seek your blessings for the works done by BJP in the State and the Union Governments to build a new India through New Karnataka.”
