Anekal: In a vibrant display of skill and strength, 200 students from various schools in Anekal taluk participated in the taluk-level karate competition organised by the School Education Department at Bommasandra. The event witnessed 45 students excelling in various categories, earning them a spot in the district-level competition scheduled for 10th September.
Taluk Physical Education Officer Rajappa emphasised the importance of karate and yoga camps for self-defence and physical strength among students. He highlighted that sports like karate are crucial for physical and mental development, especially in today’s era, where excessive use of mobile phones, TVs, and computers has led to a decline in community games.
Karate coach Nagendra Rao encouraged students to prioritise sports alongside their academic pursuits, pointing out the numerous benefits, including improved health and potential opportunities for government jobs.
The event was attended by notable figures, including Ashok of the Physical Education Association, taluk-level karate organiser S.V. Lakshmi, and karate trainers Nagendra Rao, Srinivas, Sai Charan, Lokesh, Santhosh, and Harini. Prizes were distributed to the winners, recognising their achievements in the competition.
