On Thursday, the Karnataka Cabinet accepted the interim report on internal reservation, submitted by the one-man Justice Das Commission, following its review in a Cabinet meeting. The commission, led by Justice Nagamohan Das, has recommended a new survey for the scientific classification of sub-castes within the Scheduled Caste (SC) category.
To ensure thorough completion of this task, the Commission’s term has been extended by two months. This will allow for a detailed survey of SC groups in Karnataka, after which the state will finalize its internal reservation policy for SC communities. Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H.K. Patil confirmed the extension, adding that the high-level committee overseeing the survey will be headed by the state’s chief secretary.
