Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has mandated that all companies and educational institutions in the state hoist the Karnataka state flag on November 1 to honor Kannada Rajyotsava, the day commemorating the formation of the state. In a statement to ANI, Shivakumar highlighted the significance of this day, saying, “November 1 is significant for Karnataka as we celebrate our State Day.”

As Bengaluru Development Minister, he stressed the importance of recognizing this occasion, particularly given that around 50% of the city’s population comprises individuals from outside the state. He urged everyone to respect and honor the Kannada language and culture by displaying the Karnataka flag on all buildings on this day.

While advocating for the observance of this event, Shivakumar also cautioned pro-Kannada groups against taking matters into their own hands, reiterating that the flag hoisting is a mandatory requirement for all institutions and companies.
