On Thursday, the Karnataka High Court disposed of a public interest litigation (PIL) after the state government informed the court that it had revoked its decision to transfer land belonging to the Veterinary Hospital on Goodshed Road in Chamarajpet constituency to the Minority Welfare Department. The land had been earmarked for the construction of a Maulana Azad/Morarji Desai Residential School.

A division bench, comprising Chief Justice NV Anjaria and Justice MI Arun, was hearing the PIL filed by Girish Bharadwaj. The petitioner had challenged the government’s order issued on February 26, 2024, which transferred two acres of land from the Veterinary Hospital to the Minority Welfare Department.

During the hearing, the government advocate submitted an affidavit stating that the state government had issued a new order on March 4, 2025, revoking the earlier decision to transfer the land. The affidavit also clarified that the government’s plan to relocate the hospital had been withdrawn. With this update, the High Court disposed of the PIL.
