Mangaluru: Rail services between Bengaluru, Mangaluru and Karwar were disrupted on Monday after a landslip affected the railway track between Yedakumari and Shiribagilu stations in the Sakleshpur ghat section of the Mysuru Division of South Western Railway (SWR).
The disruption follows a landslip reported on Saturday, prompting railway authorities to suspend operations on the affected stretch to ensure passenger safety. Restoration work is underway, with officials clearing debris and assessing the condition of the track before train services can resume.
Three trains cancelled
South Western Railway has cancelled three trains scheduled to operate on Monday due to the disruption:
Train No. 16515 – Yesvantpur–Karwar Express
Train No. 16576 – Mangaluru Junction–Yesvantpur Gomateshwara Express
Train No. 16596 – Karwar–KSR Bengaluru Panchaganga Express
Railway officials said the cancellations were necessary to facilitate restoration work and ensure safe movement of trains through the affected ghat section.
Passengers advised to check updates
SWR has urged passengers travelling on the affected routes to verify the latest train schedules before commencing their journey. Travellers have been advised to check the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) website or mobile application for real-time updates on train operations and any further changes.
The railway administration has assured passengers that every effort is being made to restore normal services at the earliest. Officials continue to monitor the situation closely as restoration work progresses in the landslip-hit section.
