In a recent press conference held at Vidhana Soudha, Karnataka’s Legal Minister H.K. Patil addressed concerns surrounding the Waqf Board’s notices issued to farmers in Vijayapura. He announced the government’s decision to withdraw these notices, reassuring farmers that their land would not be confiscated.

Patil emphasized that the government has no plans to seize farmland, criticizing the BJP for allegedly politicising the situation. “It is inappropriate to make politics out of this matter,” he remarked. His statement underlines the government’s intent to maintain a focus on agricultural welfare rather than allowing political agendas to cloud the issue.

The minister revealed that the tahsildar, the local revenue officer, had made an error in issuing the notice. Patil assured that the government would rectify this mistake promptly. He dismissed calls for the resignation of Minister Jamir Ahmed, arguing that it was unjust to hold him accountable for the tahsildar’s actions. “Why should Jamir resign? The tahsildar made a mistake, and it is the responsibility of the Deputy Commissioner to review such notices,” he explained, reinforcing the idea that accountability should be properly assigned within the administrative framework.

Patil expressed confidence that all confusions regarding this matter had been addressed. He assured farmers that there were no further complications, highlighting the government’s commitment to clear communication and transparency. This assurance is crucial for farmers, who may have felt anxious about the implications of the notices.

The government’s proactive approach in withdrawing the notices reflects a commitment to protecting farmers’ rights and maintaining trust in the administration. By addressing the issue head-on and clarifying the circumstances surrounding the tahsildar’s error, Minister H.K. Patil aims to reassure the agricultural community and dispel any lingering doubts about the government’s intentions.

As this situation unfolds, it remains essential for all stakeholders to focus on constructive dialogue and solutions that benefit the farming community, rather than letting political disputes overshadow the pressing concerns of agricultural welfare.
