Mangaluru: Madhu Bangarappa addressed the audience at the Congress office, stating that he has been entrusted with the task of overseeing Dakshina Kannada district affairs for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He has been instructed to present an initial candidate report within 15 days.
Our primary objective this time is to secure a victory in the Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency, and I’m launching that effort today. Regarding the JD(S) aligning with the BJP, I’m uncertain about their direction, but I want to emphasize that the Congress remains our choice, despite any doubts. Presently, they have aligned themselves with the same ideological group. In Dakshina Kannada district, the BJP hasn’t secured victory solely on the basis of developmental achievements but rather by appealing to emotional issues. There is an opportunity this time to win the support and affection of the people in Mangaluru. I also plan to seek guidance from Janardhana Poojary.
Many JD(S) leaders from across the state have been in contact with me. Some individuals are disheartened by the JD(S)’s alliance with the BJP, so decisions are made when fundamental beliefs are at risk. Numerous JD(S) leaders from Mangaluru are also in contact, and I anticipate they will reach a decision soon.
