Chikkamagaluru: The BJP has taken the decision of ousting Zilla Panchayat President Chaithrashree Malathesh from the party for a period of six years, following the latter’s attempts to arm twist the party.
As per an internal agreement, Chaithrashree was supposed to step down from the post of Zilla Panchayat President on January 4. However, instead of sticking by the agreement, Chaithrashree tried to make hay when the sun shined. She started keeping forth demands for a ticket from Mudigere for the upcoming elections, failing which, she threatened the party of not tendering her resignation for 30 months.
All of 24, Chaithrashree proved to be a young and dynamic leader, who toiled hard to make Chikkamagaluru an open defecation-free district. She even went to the Maoist infested regions and started ‘village stay’, to understand the problems of the people, but all of this fell flat. Not just this, her quest to work for her district drove her to write a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and recently the PMO had even acknowledged that she would be soon given a date to meet the PM. But, her adamancy to remain in power had compelled the party to crack the whip.
It is said that Chaithrashree, who is upset with the decision of the party wants to know what her mistakes were and if she was being targeted by the BJP for being a Dalit.
