Chikkamagaluru: BJP District President Kalmarudappa said that a complaint has been lodged at the Police Station against three persons for spreading fake news that C. T. Ravi said that Veerashaiva Lingayats need not be spared.
Speaking at a press conference, he said, “It is a fake news and a conspiracy has been hatched against C. T. Ravi. We had lodged a complaint with the District Superintendent of police to identify those who spread it and take action. The police have registered a case against Harish Kengalahalli, Secretary of Davanagere District Congress IT Cell, Gurupatil and Suvarnagiri Kumar of Tumakuru. He demanded that culprits be arrested immediately and legal action be taken against them.
The three accused had obtained a toolkit from the District Congress leaders and spread fake news on social media. The Congress party has not been able to discuss development. It has worked to sow the seeds of poison in the midst of caste, he said.
Lingayats in the Constituency are not the ones who fall prey to such fake news. The BJP has identified leaders from the Lingayat Community and given them high positions in the State. In the District too, many local bodies have shown a lot of heart by occupying a seat in the board of corporations.
Even in the previous elections, many people were holding pens and paper and calculating and trying to defeat the BJP before the elections. However, when the results came, C. T. Ravi would have won with the highest margin of votes. “Congress will not spread misinformation and fake news,” he said.
