Chikkamagaluru: Deepotsava at Bindiga Deveeramma Hill held

Chikkamagaluru: Devotees from different parts of the State visited the Bindiga Sri Deveeramma Hill on Chandradrona Parvata, where Deepotsav is celebrated every year on Deepavali. Thousands of devotees started climbing the hill from night of Sunday October 23. Sri Deveeramma Deepotsava got off to a grand start on the morning of Monday October 24 with having darshan of the Goddess.

Devotees, who had taken a vow, climbed the hill carrying wood barefoot and offered ghee cloth and wood to the Goddess. The Goddess was decorated with various flowers and special pujas were offered.

The idol of Bindiga Sri Deveeramma Utsava was taken to the top of the hill and special poojas were performed. Special poojas were offered to the Goddess at Sri Bindiga Deveeramma Temple at the foot of the hill.

Tight police security was deployed in view of the deepotsava. Deputy Superintendent, 8 Crime Prevention Initiatives, Police Inspectors, 32 Sub-Inspectors, 87 Assistant SIs, 453 Head Constables and 62 Home Guards and 6 DAR platoons were deployed.

Parking was allowed in a 15-acre area near Mallanahalli. KSRTC buses were arranged for the convenience of devotees going to the hill. Fire brigade, villagers and volunteers were deployed to facilitate the devotees to climb the hill safely.
