Chikkamagaluru: Pre-poll crackdown, items worth Rs 2.17 L seized

Chikkamagaluru: In a bid to prevent irregularities as part of the model code of conduct for the Assembly elections, taluk MCC teams like flying squad, police department, commerce department conducted simultaneous searches at transport, commercial establishments, courier offices in Kadur constituency limits and seized undocumented items worth Rs 2.17 lakh.

While the officials who inspected the Gowri Transport godown at Halepet in Birur town seized a cooker and other household items worth Rs 1.51 lakh, 77 sarees worth Rs 38,500, 47 cookers worth Rs 24,000 and a banned single-use plastic (worth Rs 4,000) were seized from the Kadur godown of the same company and handed over to the commercial tax department, Birur police station and Kadur municipality for further action.

FS22 head Kadur Municipality chief Rudresh, FS25 team head Shantala, Commercial Taxes Department’s Netravathi and Jayanthi were present at the inspection.
