RI gets 6 months jail term for corruption

Chikkmagaluru: The District and Sessions Court judge has sentenced a revenue inspector in a bribe related case to 6 months imprisonment and slapped Rs 5000 fine.

The accused revenue inspector Purnesh Murthy of Gonibeedu in Mudigere taluk had demanded a bribe amount of Rs 1.50 Lakh for allotting land to a beneficiary, B J Chandregowda of Hireshigara village on 14 September 2014.

Shocked B J Chandre Gowda approached Lokayukta and lodged a complaint. Chikkamagalur Lokayukta police trapped the corrupt official while accepting the bribe amount from Chandregowda and filed a case under Section 7, columns 13 (1) and (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

District and Sessions Judge M Hiremath found the accused official guilty and sentenced him to six months imprisonment and slapped Rs 5,000 fine.
