Chikkamagaluru: The SDPI Mudigere unit has directly accused the BJP and Sangh Parivar of being responsible for the death of college student Dhanyashree.
After submitting a memorandum to the Tahshildar on January 16, SDPI Mudigere unit Secretary Mohammed Sharif urged a fair probe into the case.
Sharif on the occasion said, “The members of the BJP and Sangh Parivar threatened and harassed Dhanyashree, who had openly expressed her support to the Muslims. They have threatened her on phone and have shared her chats on social media. They also gone to her house and threatened her parents. Dejected over these developments, Dhanyashree ended her life. Moral policing by the Sangh Parivar and BJP is responsible for the death.”
One person has been arrested by the police and Bajrang Dal Convenor Avinash who is also accused of making provocative speech against Muslims is absconding. Police should arrest him and other culprits in the case at the earliest, he added.
It may be recalled that a teenager named Dhanashree from Mudigere had recently ended life. Though it was initially said that she took this extreme step after her father scolded her, it was later found that she was chatting with a friend over WhatsApp and had made statements supporting the Muslims. The friend had leaked those messages to some saffron brigade members, who in turn reached her home and warned her. Soon after the incident, the girl had ended life.
