Hassan: In a shocking incident, a thief, who was caught stealing coffee, was beaten up by some people at Bellavara Village in the Taluk.
Manju, a resident of a neighbouring village, had gone to steal coffee. On noticing this, the owner of the garden, along with others, caught hold of Manju and tied his hands and legs and beat him up mercilessly. Not only that, they also made him station in a place and behaved ruthlessly with him.
In the morning, the men tied a rope around his legs and tied him to a tree near the garden and beat him up again until blood oozing out of his head. They have made a video of everything and it has gone viral everywhere.
Anyone who has done anything wrong should be caught and handed over to the police. But these miscreants have taken the law into their own hands and behaved brutally, the public has urged.
Many also have lashed out at Manju, and are angry that he had committed a theft in the past as well. Though he apologised for not doing anything wrong again, he was not forgiven.
SP Hariram Shankar said, “Manju was beaten up on charges of committing theft in an orchard in Bellavara Village under Arehalli Police Station limits. Four to five coffee growers have committed the crime. Our police swung into action and arrested Raghavendra K., Umesh of Bellavara Village, Keerthi of Malliganur Village, Shyamuyal of Donanamane Village and Naveen Raj of Kitavara Village. All the accused have been arrested and the investigation is on,” he said.
