Hassan: In a tragic incident, a baby elephant fell into a trench dug by farmers at Hosakoppal in Sakleshpura Taluk on Monday Jan 2.
On December 29, villagers had slammed the Government by digging trench a for elephants in Hosakoppal alleging that the Government had failed to find a permanent solution to the menace of wild elephants in the Malnad region.
On night of Sunday January 1, wild elephants had attacked and destroyed the farm of one Mahendra of Hosakoppalu Village. The elephants were on their way back to the forest in the wee hours of Sunday when a baby elephant fell into a trench dug by a farmer.
