Hassan: The farmers, who have been tilling the land since the time of their grandfather and great-grandfather, have been cultivating crops and now they have suddenly been given a notice to all the farmers that the land belongs to the forest.
Farmers from dozens of villages in Javagal Hobli came to the District Aranya Bhavan and said, “We are worried that the Forest Department has suddenly issued notice to all of us on the land where we have been cultivating crops for hundreds of years since the time of our grandfather and great-grandfather. The account is all as Pani in 1978-79 by giving cultivation slip. But now the Forest Department has issued a notice and is asking the land to be included with the forest. So far, the revenue has also been collected. If the farmers come to the Forest Department in Hassan ctity to question this, there will be no officer in the office.bThe farmers alleged “If we show the Pani and the cultivation slip we have, they are saying that all this is fake,” he added.
If we go to the Taluk office to ask for a record, they are saying that we don’t have it,” he said.
In the past, we were given a cultivation slip and pani, as well as a loan against the land. There are 5700 acres of land in Ajjampura alone and now notices have been issued to all of us. A total of 11 villages in Javagal Hobli belong to it. You have to give our land to us or else we will have to protest overnight,” he warned.
Meanwhile, hundreds of farmers who lost their land, had gathered in front of Aranya Bhavan.
