Hassan: As the 2023 State Assembly elections draw to a close, the District is witnessing rapid political developments and it has come as a surprise that H. D. Kumaraswamy visits Congress Leader Shashidhar’s house in Arasikere.
Congress Leader from Arasikere J. P. Shashidhar, who lost in the last Arasikere Assembly elections. In the last election, he had secured over 50,000 votes against JD (S) candidate and sitting MLA K. M..Shivalingegowda.
Shashidhar, an influential leader of the Lingayat Community, which has crucial votes in Arasikere Assembly Constituency, has resigned from the membership of the Congress Party.
H. D. Kumaraswamy’s visit assumes significance as the Congress has given ticket to sitting MLA K. M. Shivalingegowda from Arasikere Assembly constituency this time.
MLA Shivalingegowda is already campaigning for the Congress Party in Arasikere Assembly Constituency and has already visited the State Congress Leaders for a round of visits and campaigned for Shivalingegowda.
During the visit to Shashidhar’s house, prominent leaders of the JD (S) uncluding Banavara Ashok are said to have spoken to Shashidhar to support Banavara Ashoka in the next Assembly elections and help the JD (S) win.
Shashidhar has sought a few days’ time from Former Chief Minister Kumaraswamy to take a decision on supporting Banavara Ashok and joining the JD (S) and is likely to clarify his stand later.
