Hassan: Villagers of Bettahalli submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner demanding to control the sale of illicit liquor.

They stated, “Illegal sale of liquor is rampant in Bettahalli Village under Singodanahalli and Magge Gram Panchayat limits in Alur Taluk. Liquor is being illegally stored and sold in shops and some houses in the Village.”

“This is ruining the middle and poor-class households and the money earned from working as labourers is being used for drinking, so there is a common commotion in the house. There is no harmony in the family and there is an atmosphere of unrest in Bettahalli Village on a daily basis. Men and young people are becoming addicted to alcohol and the peace of the families is being disturbed. Therefore, strict instructions should be given to stop liquor consumption,” they added.

Villagers Asha, Kusuma, Sujatha, Sunil Kumar, Sadashiva, Ranganath, Thyagaraj, Diwakar, Satish and others were present.
