Hassan: Three people have been arrested in Channarayapatna, Hassan District, by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) police investigating the PSI recruitment examination scam.

The arrested are Keshavamurthy, President of the Bekka Gram Panchayat in the Channarayapatna Taluk, Chandrashekhar, a Bekka resident, and his son Venugopal, who made it to the provisional list of candidates selected after the examination. They were arrested by CID officers in the last two days.

Venugopal is an Engineering graduate who worked for the MGNREGA in Arsikere Taluk temporarily. He had applied for the position of Police Sub-Inspector (PSI). Chandrashekhar, a former President of the Bekka Gram Panchayat, used Keshavamurthy’s help to get his son a job.

According to sources, the deal is reported to have been arranged by another political figure. The police are trying to locate this person who is alleged to be close to prominent politicians in Hassan District.

Meanwhile, Divya Hagaragi, Jyothi Patil, and Sridhar Pawar were remanded in judicial custody for 14 days by the third JMFC court in Kalaburagi on Monday May 9. Their police custody ended on Monday.
