Shivamogga: In a heart-warming incident, a student from Government Higher Primaty School, Gejjenahalli Village in the district has submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Basavaraj S. Bommai and Education Minister B. C. Nagesh through Deputy Commissioner K. B. Shivakumar.

The boy named R. G. Udayakumar submitted a memorandum on Wednesday September 22 stating that the school in which he studies has more than 100 students studying from Class I to Class VII. And many students in this government school are children of coolie workers, daily wagers and low-income family groups. More so, the school lacks basic infrastructure, he informs.

Udayakumar continues that the school though has classes up to VII, there are only three classrooms. Further, the school also is devoid of playground, and therefore there is no much scope for sports and extra-curricular activities, he urged.

He also stated that the school lacks smartclass facility, and also computer education. This has hindered us from getting modern education and therefore, we are still to keep up to others’ pace, he added.

Not only this, the student has brought to the notice of the concerned that in Gejjenahalli surrounding areas there are no other private or government high schools due to which many students stop their education after Class VII. One has to travel to Shivamogga for the nearest high school, he informed.

He further states that the school has three-acre-land, and hence, a new school building with playground and such other facilities can come up, which will help poor students’ get quality education. He also requests the Centre and State Governments to make an arrangement for teaching Spoken English to interested students at the school, and thus give the rural students equal opportunities to excel in their education and other talent.
