Shivamogga: A special NIA Court has granted conditional bail to Zafar Sadiq (52), an accused in the murder case of Bajrang Dal activist Harsha AKA Hindu Harsha in the City.

Sadiq, a second-hand car dealer, was arrested by the police on February 24 and he is the 10th accused in the Harsha murder case. Sadiq, father of jilan, the sixth accused in the case, had moved the NIA special court seeking bail.

Sadiq’s lawyer said the client had given shelter to his son Jilan, an accused in Harsha murder case, at a friend’s house in Bengaluru to escape from the police. Apart from that, there is no other charge against the litigants,” he had said in his petition to the court.

The counsel appearing for the NIA said the cars purchased by Sadiq were used by the other accused to commit the crime and escape from the spot after committing the crime. Sadiq also helped his son to escape from the police and take shelter at a friend’s house. Thus, Sadiq was well aware of the criminal act of the other accused. For this reason, Sadiq should not be granted bail.”

A special NIA court, which heard the petition, imposed a fine of Rs. 50,000 on the accused. A personal bond and surety should be issued. He has to attend the hearing of the case every time unless the court gives him an exemption. Witnesses in the case should not be threatened and evidence should not be destroyed. The court imposed conditions that he should not be involved in any criminal activities.
