Shivamogga: The production of vaccines for KFD (Kasanur Forest Disease) or monkey disease, which is life-threatening for people in the Western Ghats and adjoining Districts, has been stopped and the circular has raised many doubts as to whether the stocks are not available.
Strangely, it has now come to light that the vaccine has been supplied continuously for the last two decades, even though the permission given for the vaccine supply has lapsed. Initially, the vaccine was allowed to supply only for one year. But then the vaccine was produced and supplied for 20 years without any permission.
Now, the sudden halt in vaccine production has caused concern among the people of Malnad region.
