Shivamogga: As MLA Ashok Naik arrived to lay foundation stone ceremony, also arrived at Gram Panchayat office to distribure title deeds, the public gheraoed the office and protested at Pillangiri in Holehonnuru of the District on Thursday November 17.
Some villagers led by local Congress leader Nagaraj, gheraoed and exchanged heated words demanding distribution of title deeds. As many as 72 families have come to the streets in Pillangiri Gram Panchayat limits following an argument over distribution of title deeds and additional compensation to the beneficiaries who have lost their plots and houses on the Shivamogga – Chitradurga National Highway. MLA has failed to give justice to actual beneficiaries, protesters alleged.
Speaking to the villagers, MLA Ashok Naik said that the problem, which has been there for 30 years, will be resolved in two days. As an MLA of the Constituency, I would have been very happy if more compensation money was sanctioned to the genuine beneficiaries as demanded. For 30 years, no one has spoken in the matter of distribution of title deeds. I have stood in support as the voice of you people and will help you all in the distribution of title deeds and getting more compensation.
