Shivamogga: The Kademane Link Road under Neratoor Gram Panchayat limits in Theerthahalli Taluk was constructed a week ago at a cost of around Rs. 50 lakh. The villagers have started protesting against the contractors who have done poor works in this regard by plucking the road tar in their hands.
On Thursday February 2, the villagers gathered on the road and we excavated the tar road using their hands. It is a one-and-a-half km link road from Jigalagodu in Horani Village of Neratoor Gram Panchayat to Kademane. There are about 28 houses.
MLA Araga Jnanendra has brought the grant. But the contractors are doing poor work and tarnishing his image. While asphalting the road, the villagers were not informed. Not even a quarter of an inch is tarred. Due to this, the road is full of potholes all over the place. The District authorities and Taluk authorities should immediately conduct an inquiry and rectify the work, state the villagers and threatened to protest in front of the Taluk Office.
Along with the road works, the soil laid on the side of the road has also not been properly done. The soil is scattered here and there. It will get washed away during the rainy season and join the drain, the villagers rued and alleged that the road would be completely damaged due to this.
