Shivamogga: The City police shot at a suspect, who is accused in a stabbing case, as he tried to flee after attacking a Police Constable at the newly developed residential layout on Purle road on the outskirts of the city on the morning of Saturday November 5.

Acting on a tip, the police, under the supervision of police sub-inspector Prashanth, rushed to the newly constructed residential layout to arrest the suspect Aslam, who was hiding there. Aslam tried to flee after stabbing a Police Constable as a fight broke out between the two sides. Following this, the Inspector shot at his right leg.The Constable and Aslam were both taken to the hospital.

Police had nabbed Asif, a native of Sagar, in connection with a stabbing incident in which a 45-year-old Ashok Prabhu, was injured in the City recently.

They were searching for Aslam, the second suspect in the investigation. According to sources, four people assaulted Prabhu.
