Shivamogga: Home Minister Araga Jnanendra instructed officials to take legal action against shops selling liquor illegally and also cancel their licences.
He was speaking at the meeting held to stop use of liquor and substances such as drugs working in coordination with Akhila Karnataka Janajagruti Vedike office on Monday July 4. The Government has been undertaking campaigns on war-footing. However without the cooperation of public and other allied organisations it is not possible to root out the evil. Good law and order maintenance in the State too help curb the menace as it is seen that other outside forces are trying wage indirect war by bringing drugs inside the country. The Government has taken this seriously and is committed to put a stop on to this menace, he emphasised.
Araga Jnanendra added, “A special ward at McGANN Teaching District Hospital will be started within this month to help addicts of substances come out of the same.”
