Shivamogga: “Authors, writers should be allowed to write without fear, said MLA Hartalu Halappa. He added that any attempt to stop the pen through violence and fear is not right.

In the wake of a threat letter received by litterateur Na. D’Souza, the MLA met the writer in Nehru City here and then addressed mediapersons. “In the past, Gauri Lankesh and Kalaburagi were killed. Such heinous acts have been done by people with different ideologies, he remarked.

He also suggested “I am of the opinion that the problem should be resolved through discussion and not through violence. In this context, as soon as I came to know about Author Dr. Na. D’Souza who recieved the threatening letter, immediately visited his house and reassured him of his safety,” he said.

Circle Inspectors of Town Police Station were told to visit D’Souza’s house and get a report.
