Shivamogga: “Mr Yediyurappa and Mr Eshwarappa, have you read the Indian Constitution. The 10th Schedule of the constitution deals with ‘anti-defection law’ because of which it has been helpful to put a break to those MLAs who frequently jump from one party to the other,” said former chief minister Siddaramaiah.
Addressing the gathering at the Congress conference on Tuesday, November 5, he said, “The alleged audio tape of Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa in which he reveals about the currently disqualified MLAs being in contact with BJP chief Amit Shah has been submitted to the Supreme Court. The BJP has ‘murdered’ the constitution by pulling the 17 MLAs out of their parties, resulting in collapse of Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) coalition government.”
“I was asked by the media personnel in a programme that how I would rate the BJP in terms of being pro-people. I gave them a zero instead of minus one,” he added.
Mocking at the BSY’s recent statement ‘it is not a cakewalk for me’ Siddaramaiah said, “When I ask the 76-year-old BSY to resign from the CM’s post I was termed as ‘arrogant.’ I told him to resign because he said that he was facing tough times and was not having a cakewalk. Keeping in mind his own well-being, I urged him to resign.”
He termed BSY to be the ‘weakest chief minister’ for not being able to handle the flood situation of the state efficiently.
Siddaramaiah also warned BSY-led BJP government not to erase Tipu Sultan’s name from the history books. It is better to ban the Tipu Jayanthi rather than erasing an episode of history.
Meanwhile, he also lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre for the weakened economic and social condition of the country.
