Mandya: Tragedy struck in Hunjanakere village, Mandya district, when a five-year-old boy, Jishnu H.S., lost his life after the compound gate of the Channakeshava temple collapsed on him during a visit with his parents for a Karthika special puja.
The incident occurred as Jishnu, a kindergarten student at Chinmaya Vidyalaya, played near the temple’s dilapidated iron gate. The gate suddenly fell, trapping him underneath. Though he was rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries due to severe bleeding.
Following the accident, the boy’s parents filed a complaint at the Arakere police station, and police have initiated further action regarding the case. The incident has raised concerns about maintenance and safety at local religious sites.
