Mandya: Three members of a family, including a nine-year-old girl, were killed after a milk tanker rammed into their motorcycle from behind in Maddur taluk of Mandya district early Tuesday, September 15. The accident occurred in the Koppa police station limits between 5.30 am and 6 am, according to police.
Family was returning after Gauri-Ganesha festival
The victims were returning to their home in Kanakapura taluk of Bengaluru South district after attending the Gauri-Ganesha festival at the woman’s parents’ home, police said.
Kavya was travelling on the motorcycle with her husband Muthu and their two daughters when the accident occurred. The family was returning after the festival celebrations when the milk tanker reportedly struck their motorcycle from behind.
The accident has cast a pall of gloom over the family as they were returning from a festival gathering.
Father and nine-year-old daughter die on the spot
According to police, Muthu and his nine-year-old daughter Kirthana died at the accident spot following the collision.
Kavya sustained serious injuries in the crash and was shifted to a hospital for treatment. However, she later succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment.
Their 12-year-old daughter survived the accident without any major injuries, a senior police officer said.
