Mandya police apprehended three suspects and confiscated 460 grams of gold, 2.5 kg of silver, and a stolen motorcycle, with a total worth of ₹42 lakh.
Superintendent of Police Mallikarjuna Baladandi stated that on February 9, Paramesh and his wife were traveling from Maddur to Mudaktore Temple in Mysuru when two bike-borne criminals snatched a 70-gram mangalasutra and a chain from his wife at Belakawadi, valued at ₹3.2 lakh.
Investigations led to the arrest of Shringar (25) from T Narasipur and S Chetan (25) from Kannalli village, Mandya. Police uncovered their involvement in multiple thefts across Mandya and Mysuru, including Mandya Rural, Belakawadi, Lakshmipuram, Alnahalli, Kuvempu Nagar, and Nazarabad. A stolen motorcycle and 286 grams of gold jewelry worth ₹24.2 lakh were retrieved. Notably, Shringar had even acted in a movie.
In a separate case, K Prasanna (40) from Ramanagara district was arrested for a burglary in Agasanapura village, Malavalli taluk, on August 22. He allegedly stole 45 grams of gold, 5 kg of silver, and ₹35,000 in cash, amounting to ₹17.9 lakh. Police linked him to additional crimes in Halaguru, Belakawadi, Malavalli Rural, and Kirugavalu.
Meanwhile, after a viral video showed a man issuing threats in a cemetery, police detained several individuals and intensified crackdowns on criminal activities, opening history sheets against 30 offenders and conducting surprise raids.
