A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Dondemadahalli, Nagamangala taluk, Mandya district, where a four-year-old boy lost his life after accidentally discharging a firearm.
The victim, Abhijit, was the son of Shashank, a migrant laborer from West Bengal employed at a poultry farm. The child resided with his father in the farm’s servant quarters.
On Sunday evening, Abhijit reportedly found and played with a licensed gun belonging to the farm owner. In an unfortunate turn of events, the firearm went off, causing severe injuries. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his wounds.
Superintendent of Police Mallikarjuna Baladandi, along with senior officials, visited the scene. Authorities have registered a case at the Nagamangala Rural Police Station, and an investigation is underway to determine accountability and prevent such tragedies in the future.
