Mangaluru: The Additional District Sessions Judge, Mangalore, has dismissed the bail application filed by Anil Lobo, in connection with the alleged abetment of Manohar Pereira’s suicide. The application was filed under Section 483 of the BNSS Act.
Case details
Anil Lobo was accused of abetting the suicide of Manohar Pereira, who passed away on 17th December 2024. Following the incident, Lobo was arrested by the Mangalore Police on 18th December. However, after his arrest, he managed to secure admission to a private hospital based on a medical certificate issued by Dr Ashok Pandit, a urologist at Yenepoya Hospital, Kodialbail, for the treatment of hydrocele.
Allegations of unethical conduct
The deceased’s brother, Jeevan Pereira, has lodged a complaint with the Karnataka Medical Council against Dr Ashok Pandit, accusing him of unethical conduct and requesting the cancellation of his medical registration.
Police proceedings
The Mangalore Police have sought a police remand for Anil Lobo, which will be heard by the Magistrate tomorrow. The remand is expected to assist in further investigations into the case. This development adds a significant dimension to the ongoing probe into the circumstances leading to the tragic demise of Manohar Pereira.
