Legislative Council member B.K. Hariprasad appealed to Congress Muslim leaders to reconsider and retract their resignations, urging unity during a sensitive time in coastal Karnataka.

“I didn’t come for a political meeting—this is a routine visit,” he said.
“I’m here to calm nerves and address incidents that have stirred emotions.”

Hariprasad rejected claims of leadership reshuffling and referred to the Chief Minister’s recent visit, during which he was told not to let Mangaluru become another Manipur.

“Why is there unrest in Dakshina Kannada when the rest of the state is peaceful?” he asked.
“This is not Uttar Pradesh or Manipur, where innocent lives are lost.”

He noted the CM acknowledged the tension and assured resolution.

“He advised me to meet party workers and assure them—we’re here for justice, for the Constitution, and for peace.”

He discouraged emotional decisions, saying:

“No need to resign. Withdraw your decision. Don’t act out of anguish. Mangaluru’s reputation must not be tarnished.”

Hariprasad emphasized ideological strength over impulsive action.

“If someone resigns over policy failure, it’s justified—but not due to emotional distress.”

Regarding ongoing violence, he blamed shadow figures manipulating youth:

“The real culprits are hiding. Innocents are used like pawns. We’ll expose the masterminds soon.”

He ended by expressing confidence in the police and state leadership.

“Law and order is being restored. I stand with our people—everything will be fine.”
