Mangaluru: A sorrowful incident unfolded near Adyar on Wednesday morning when Santosh, a 40-year-old bus conductor, suddenly collapsed and died while on duty in a college bus operated by Nitte (deemed-to-be university).

Santosh, a long-time resident of Kuthar, had been serving the institution for many years. On the day of the incident, he was engaged in his regular morning assignment — transporting school children as part of Nitte’s initiative to provide free transportation for students from government schools and hostels.

The tragedy struck while he was helping students board the bus. Without warning, Santosh lost consciousness and collapsed on the spot. Concerned local residents immediately stepped in, rushing to offer aid and arranging to transport him to the nearest hospital. Sadly, he was declared dead before medical assistance could be provided.

Initial findings suggest that a cardiac arrest was the probable cause of death, though further confirmation is awaited.

Santosh is survived by his wife and children, leaving behind a grieving family and community. His sudden passing has deeply saddened colleagues, students, and residents, who remember him as a dedicated and compassionate individual committed to his role.

The Nitte institution, known for its sustained efforts in supporting education through student transport services, expressed condolences to Santosh’s family. This unexpected loss serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictability of life and the importance of immediate medical intervention in cardiac emergencies.
