Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency once again proved to be a formidable stronghold for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Captain Brijesh Chowta, who was given the ticket by the BJP, replacing the incumbent Nalin Kumar Kateel, was able to enter Parliament in his maiden effort.

According to local sources, Chowtha defeated his nearest candidate from the Congress, Padmaraj, by over 1 lakh votes. Compared to the previous election, the voting percentage increased in this election. This marks the fourth straight win for the BJP.
