A delegation led by Ivan D’Souza, convener of the campaign committee and member of the legislative council, submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on behalf of the Mangaluru Bar Association, requesting the establishment of a high court bench in Mangaluru. The submission was made under the guidance of Assembly Speaker U T Khader.
Bar Association President H V Raghavendra and senior advocate M P Noronha highlighted the urgent need for a high court circuit bench in the coastal region to meet the growing demands of the legal community and the public.
In response, the Chief Minister assured the delegation that discussions would be held with Law Minister H K Patil and high court judges to evaluate the proposal and take appropriate action.
The delegation also included MLAs Vedavyas Kamath, Bharath Shetty, Kishore Kumar, and Manjunath Bhandary, former legislative council member and senior advocate Monappa Bhandary, senior advocates T Narayana Poojary and Yashwant Maroli, along with various other members of the Bar Association.
