As a safety precaution, 135 care centres have been earmarked across Dakshina Kannada district, with officials in every taluk directed to maintain them in a state of readiness. Within Mangaluru City Corporation’s limits, engineers have been assigned to all 60 wards, while panchayat development officers oversee 223 gram panchayats. Chief officers in 13 local bodies act as incident commanders, all tasked with inspecting their areas and enforcing necessary safety protocols.

The Mescom and Forest Department have been ordered to clear hazardous tree branches and electrical wires near schools and anganwadi centres. Incident commanders and school headmasters are conducting joint inspections to certify building safety, ensuring student security.

Emergency preparedness is further boosted with a 25-member NDRF team stationed in Puttur taluk and a 10-member SDRF team positioned in Subrahmanya. The district also has 26 boats, JCB machines, tippers, cranes, and other rescue equipment ready for deployment.

Citizens facing natural disaster-related emergencies can reach out through helpline numbers provided by the District Disaster Management Authority, including the central control room at 1077 or 0824-2442590, and local numbers across various taluks and municipal bodies.
