A tragic accident claimed the life of 30-year-old Praveen in Kadegoli near Thumbe when a private bus collided with his motorcycle. Praveen’s friend, Sandeep, sustained critical injuries and remains in intensive care at a Mangaluru hospital. The two salesmen were on their way home after work when their bike was struck by a speeding bus traveling from Mangaluru to B C Road on the National Highway.
Eyewitnesses report that the bus was driving recklessly at the time of the collision. In response, authorities have filed a case against the bus driver at Melkar Traffic Police Station, and Traffic Sub-Inspector Suthesh visited the scene to investigate further.
Local residents, deeply concerned by the rise in accidents involving private buses, are urging the RTO and traffic police to take action. They warn that without stricter oversight, reckless driving on these highways will continue to endanger lives.
